I expect continued moneyhats and exclusivity periods - these guys have boxes to sell - but ultimately, for things that can hit huge multiplatform audiences, it doesn't make sense to hamstring the reach of developers hard work. We've seen Sony continue to feature Bethesda and ABK content in their own offerings since this merger was first proposed - it would be nice if the two platform holders could start working together a bit more on expanding the reach of content after whatever exclusivity periods they deem necessary. I know that may be a naïve hope, but I think that would be a good thing. There's nothing to say they can't still agree to marketing perks and mutually beneficial deals if, for example, Sony agrees not to try and make the next Final Fantasy exclusive or something. My personal hope is it gives them a little more competitive edge and some leverage with Sony - I'm well aware it will look to many like the relationship between Sony and MS is in the toilet - but what was illuminating to me was how clear it was that Jim Ryan, Phil Spencer and others, do occasionally reach out to each other. This one deal will check a lot of boxes for them, and I suspect the MS CFO and others will want to see the fruits of this investment before they go around buying anyone else. When you spend this much acquiring such a massive asset, it's probably because you didn't really want to go around acquiring lots of others. I'm puzzled why some of the talk has shifted to "who's next" when they faced such huge scrutiny over this deal.
